Extend the life of fresh Berries

It’s always only a day or two before they start getting mushy and moldy. And no one wants moldy strawberries in their cereal. No sir.

Put unwashed, uncut strawberries in a glass jar. Seal and refrigerate. That’s it! Your berries should stay fresh for at least a week.
The important thing is not to put any bruised berries in the jar. Save those for the freezer, and keep the good berries for the fridge.
If you notice condensation forming in the jar, wad up a piece of paper towel and put that inside the jar with the berries, and it’ll soak up the excess moisture.
If you tend to buy a lot of berries, get a large jar. The quart size mason jars won’t quite hold a pint of strawberries if they’re really big.
This works for other berries as well- blueberries, raspberries, blackberries… so don’t be shy about stocking up the next time you’re at the farmers market.
